Star Wars Battlefront VR Mission Review

PlayStation VR launched in October to great critical success with a steady stream of VR releases through the release window. With many VR Experiences being indie developed, AAA developers such as Infinity Ward and Square Enix have been developing VR Experiences attached to their biggest releases of the year. Joining this exclusive AAA list are Dice/EA, developing an exclusive Rogue One mission for Star Wars Battlefront in VR.

The premise is simple, you are a rebel pilot on a patrol when you catch word of a distress signal you have to go help the ship reach safety through many explosions and of course a star destroyer.
Considering Battlefront is now two years past, the graphical fidelity has held up so well with the VR Mission being the epitome of this, arguably the best looking game on the platform, the free DLC uses the model scanning techniques to get every tiny detail on the in game models and flying past the humongous Star Destroyer is something to behold.

It's closest comparison would be the Call of Duty: Jackal Assault DLC, seeing as their both published by a AAA developer and both space shooters. Where the Jackal Assault was a short 5 minute experience that was less than visually stunning the Battlefront VR Mission clocks in at around 20 minutes long with optional objectives to add to repeatability. It's worth noting, as previously stated, the graphical consistency between the base game and the VR Mission is held in high regard as opposed to Jackal Assault that may have been developed by an external studio as it really isn't anything special.

Finally, Battlefront impresses against its similar VR experiences and its extremely fun to play and even re-play. It would be exciting to see if they incorporate some VR game mode for Star Wars Battlefront 2, or if they release an episodic VR series to fully take advantage of the PlayStation Platform (and future Xbox platform).

Spider-Man (PS1)

Web slinging is defiantly a brilliant profession. I've done it for 4 years now. It's fantastic leaping from building to building holding transparent webbing shouting "IM SPIDERMAN!" like Tarzan with a megaphone. Nah not really but I know a guy who does do this. Your average Joe, Peter Parker, is visiting a technology expo when suddenly Spiderman turns up and steals a machine designed by Dr. Otto Octavious but it can't be Spider-Man… can it? No it can't. Peter is Spiderman and we all know this. But who was the impostor? Throughout the game you meet Spider-Mans most famous villains and they're all reasonable as they are wearing their old 2000 cartoon/comics costumes and they rock! Game play in the game is smooth; it's very slick and responsive. Web swinging works, even if it is a simple mechanic, it works very well. There isn't a building you can see that you couldn't get onto. The loading of the game is iffy, it's a bit pixelated but it make...

Final Fantasy XV Review

Ten years ago, Final Fantasy XIII was announced and with it, a designed universe created from three games. Fabula Nova Crystallis was comprised of Final Fantasy XIII Agito, a mobile game that turned into a Japan only PSP release that then turned into Final Fantasy Type-0. Final Fantasy XIII was the core title released to mixed reviews but critical success. But, the third game in the mythos, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, was never truely seen and never really heard of. After many trailers and brief, albeit dull gameplay, it was quietly cancelled in late 2012.  Four years on, we can finally say that after multiple delays the rebranded and redesigned Final Fantasy Versus XIII is finally here in our PlayStation's and Xbox's.  Final Fantasy XV (FFXV) features a band of brothers protecting Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum on his way to marry his betrothed Lunafreya Nox Flueret. Each character has a distinct personality that really bleeds through the narrative and makes a deep connec...

Guitar Hero Live Review

Guitar Hero fever has struck again! This time it has targeted the New Generation consoles and a very familiar game brings with it a lot of new features. To start of, the new controller is a classic designed GH controller coming with some new features as a USB dongle for connectivity and a returning 6 buttons although not the same as before, 3 white buttons on the bottom and the top three black buttons returning from a previous controllers is the Whammy Bar and strumming bar. The gameplay you've seen in previous GH returns this time with two main modes, the main storyline and GHTV. The main storyline is a very loose story of your character becoming the best guitarist in the world with recordings of concert venues in the real world playing in the background. GHTV is the first ever live network integrated into a video game before with multiple channels, you can choose what is pretty much a radio station and play along with the songs or just listen in. What really shows the power of...
