Harley Quinn's Revenge (Batman Arkham City DLC)

A DLC episode for Arkham City that should not go amiss, and you know why? Because it's amazing. This review will feature SPOILERS that relate to the end of Batman: Arkham City. I suggest you not read unless you know it all :) Harley Quinns Revenge is exactly what it says on the tin. Rocksteady has created an "episode" that continues the story for Arkham City and is set after the end of the game. Harley Quinn has taken over the Steel Mill and is in Mourning after the recent death of her beloved Joker. Quinn takes main spotlight here which is a nice refreshing look at her as in AA, she had a minor side roll and in Arkham City she was barely there at all. It's nice to see that Rocksteady took the time to incorporate some form of story for her specifically. The actual narrative of the game is incredibly compelling, starting with Robin who we did see in the main games campaign but did not get to play as. Here we get full control of Robin and all his gadgets, it's unfor

Batman Arkham City

It's been a while since I reviewed anything but replaying Arkham City recently has inspired me to write this piece on it. Since Arkham Asylum a few years has passed and Joker whom is still suffering the effects of the Titan Formula appears to be dying. After capturing Batman, he injects a sample of his blood into Batman and all of a sudden there is a huge threat to Bats' life now. Batman must go on an adventure to save his life and everyone in Gotham City. Arkham City starts off with an impressive, story-intensive, introductory sequence showing that Penguin would appear to be a big shot at the main door of Arkham City, the recently opened prison for the criminally insane after Arkham Asylum was shut down. It features several cameo characters here that you would not recognise until later side missions such as Deadshot and Black Mask. Jack Ryder makes a new appearance (previously only heard of on the radios in AA) I can't remember if it was explained as to why he was actual

Guitar Hero: Metallica

Hello, I'm Gary Mc. I'm a reviewer and trying to be cool at the same time, so i'll add humerous puns or cliches to my reviews to spice things up and keep you reading, I'll also tell you how much I love or hate a game. And if it's Alone In The Dark, I'll shed a fustrating tear or two. I'm here to write my first review for Gamespot and i'll try and make it good! So, how about something I play frequently enough to be called "sado" and enough to build up my multi-coloured reflexes. Of Course I'm talking about, Guitar Hero: Metallica, a spin off game from the Guitar Hero Franchise. Okay, so In GH: Metallica, you're in a band (DUH) called 'Tallica .Jr and they see that Metallica needs an opening act for there shows. So they rehearse for a proper Guitar Player... Which is gonna be you (If you picked the Guitar as your career choice) From here on your really just play songs until the next cutscene. Of course the next cutscene is available w

Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2

So back to basics as we head back into Nosgoth for a second adventure with Kain, but this time what is there to expect? Basicaly the story goes like this, (Since this review is written in 2010 i'm not holding any spoilers back) This game takes place before Soul Reaver 2 and slightly during Defiance. The events in Defiance is what creates the events in Blood Omen 2 to unravel such as the re-incarnation of Janos Audron or explain what happened after Defiance ended as Kain was left at the edge. So the story is this, Kain and his first Vampire army continue to try and take over Nosgoth but the Hylden were able to stop Kain and knock him into a comatose state. Kain wakes up and he is PISSED to find out all thats happened while he was out and what happened to HIS vampire race. They were defeated at the same battle Kain was, they weren't prepared for the Hylden to be as strong as they were but later you relise that The Hylden Lord was wearing the Nexus Stone which made him invincible

Assassin's Creed 2

Welcome to the land of bad accents. But hey! They're all Italian, it doesn't count. Assassin's Creed 2 follows the story of Desmond Miles entering the Animus to unlock memories of his ancestors to find out where the artifacts of Eden are. These artifacts have unlimited power and could help for when the Templars unleash their full on attack. But somewhere down the line the Assassin's have hidden the artifacts due to their unimaginable power. So that's why we have the Animus, so we can ruin their plan. Desmond is using the Animus for "The Bleeding Effect" in which if he spends extended time re-living the lives of his ancestors he will eventually gain the abilities they once had. During Assassin's Creed 1 we weren't able to see any of Desmond's abilities other than Eagle Vision in which he could see Subject 16s redecorating of all the rooms ,that Abstergo once tried to hide, covering them in clues and glimpses into the future. In Assassin's Cr

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Once again as we enter cheesy parts of Italy, we follow Desmond Miles struggles to keep his ancestors memories at bay, when we left him in Assassin's Creed 2, they were escaping Abstergo's assault on the secret location, when Desmond started to see some of Ezio's memories while he's in reality beating up "baddies". Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood brings a refreshing look to the franchise as it's annoyingly labelled in the archives as AC2.5 and not Assassin's Creed 3, so you can't expect TOO much from this game.  Combat in-game is exactly the same as AC2 with a few new additions such as the head butt and new weapons, they are the same categories as before but… more. Better swords, better knives but also much larger price caps! Weapons are sooo expensive at the beginning of the game but throughout the game as you destroy Borgia Towers you can renovate parts of Rome, building Blacksmiths or Tailors to help you in your assassinations. Along with the

Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft tries to reinvent their stale genres by releasing a game using the same basic mechanics but tries to enhance them. With Release of the new Prince of Persia (The Forgotten Sands) with the same name as the movie but no relation, the game play has been polished to work as the best POP to date and how has this happened? Assassin's Creed was released using the same basic principles as POP with the free-flowing free running system. Assassin's Creed just sticks this in a different time period and a totally different fantasy setting. Although AC and PoP are basically the same they both play differently as PoP is a story driven adventure game while AC is almost an open world RPG/Action. With no real introduction into what's happening you get thrown in a memory, everything is all fuzzy and there's no clue to what is happening. The Animus ejects you and you wake up as Desmond Miles. A bartender who is just living a normal life he has been taking by Abstergo an independent

Spider-Man (PS1)

Web slinging is defiantly a brilliant profession. I've done it for 4 years now. It's fantastic leaping from building to building holding transparent webbing shouting "IM SPIDERMAN!" like Tarzan with a megaphone. Nah not really but I know a guy who does do this. Your average Joe, Peter Parker, is visiting a technology expo when suddenly Spiderman turns up and steals a machine designed by Dr. Otto Octavious but it can't be Spider-Man… can it? No it can't. Peter is Spiderman and we all know this. But who was the impostor? Throughout the game you meet Spider-Mans most famous villains and they're all reasonable as they are wearing their old 2000 cartoon/comics costumes and they rock! Game play in the game is smooth; it's very slick and responsive. Web swinging works, even if it is a simple mechanic, it works very well. There isn't a building you can see that you couldn't get onto. The loading of the game is iffy, it's a bit pixelated but it make

Mass Effect

***NOTICE*** **MUST READ*** Possible accidental spoilers ahead. I have tried to write this without storyline spoilers but sometimes they just escape and they cannot be hidden, so just a heads up, If the game is spoiled I have warned you! ***NOTICE*** **MUST READ*** Woah.... I'll freely admit that not many games blow my mind. But DAMN! This game didn't just blow my mind. It killed it, dissected it, studied it, commenced with some bizarre experiments and then eventually melted it down to nothing. At time of writing, with the third game in the franchise just over the horizon I thought that I should take it upon myself to at least give this critically acclaimed series a chance, which as Shooter games aren't my cake, I have never done. Without giving too much of the story away, You play as, John Sheppard (or if you wish, you can create your own custom character) Lieutenant of the SSV Normandy -top of the line star fleet spaceship- on this specific mission you're actions are

WWE All-Stars Review

Do you remember NBA JAM? No? Neither do I. But it's defiantly a huge influence on how "OTT" this game actually is. Never before have we seen a 360 frog splash from 50 feet in the air or a superplex with 3 turns, a cross body where you throw yourself 50feet in the air! This game is the embodiment of "Nu-Age Arcade" as it has the WWE Certificate and yet, doesn't take itself anywhere as seriously as the Smack Down vs. RAW series does. (Or WWE'12 at this time of writing) So to start off you have a selection of superstars and legends that you can pit together in the "greatest matches that haven't happened... yet." Of course, all these menus and options look very generic and not confusing to the savvy WWE gamer, you've got your Exhibition, Fantasy Warfare, Path of Champions, Create a Superstar and Settings. In Exhibition you can create a match with any superstars you want, there's no restrictions. Being an arcade game it doesn't lavis

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Review

The worlds largest gaming franchise has returned taken by the helm of Sledgehammer Games and as always, Activision whom are seeming more evil by the day. Modern Warfare 3 is the continuation in the long running yearly franchise in where you take control of a soldier and then shoot through endless enemies in the hope that someone calls in a helicopter and flies you home... That and there's multiplayer of course. As with previous Modern Warfare's' the story is key, Modern Warfare (MW) is renowned with being the strongest narrative in the COD franchise, not hard with Black Ops sucking, and with it's recognisable characters with extremely strong screen presence create a bundle of emotions and scenarios created perfectly to immerse you in these fictional wars, MW3 takes place in recognisable locations throughout the world, moving away from "real-ish" war landscapes of Afghanistan to move to Hamburg, London, Wall Street and several other locations that are a lot of
